How We Rank eSIMs

Our scores are driven by data we can verify, not by who pays us more.

What goes into a Sherpa Score

  • Price per GB (40%). We track published prices from each provider's official store for the destinations we cover, and compare cost for realistic trips (a week with 5GB, two weeks with 10GB), not just the cheapest teaser plan.
  • Coverage and networks (25%). How many destinations a provider covers, which local networks it rides, and whether it supports 5G.
  • Plan flexibility (20%). Unlimited options and their fair-use caps, hotspot policy, top-ups, validity windows, and whether the eSIM is reusable.
  • Trust and support (15%). Refund policy, support channels and responsiveness, company track record, and independent review platforms.

How pricing data stays fresh

Destination pages marked Prices checked show prices we verified against official provider stores on the date shown. Pages still awaiting verification are labelled as indicative and are excluded from search engines until their data is confirmed.

If you spot a price that has changed, tell us and we will fix it in the next daily refresh.

Affiliate disclosure

eSIM Sherpa is reader-supported. Some links to providers may be affiliate links: if you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects rankings: scores are computed from the criteria above, and the cheapest plan for your trip wins the comparison regardless of what any provider pays us.

We list providers with no affiliate program at all (like Ubigi, Vodafone, and Revolut) right alongside those that have one, because a comparison you cannot trust is worth nothing.
